Electronic Rust Protection — Engineered for Real-World Conditions

CAT electronic rust protection systems have been designed and manufactured in Australia since 1989. Built to handle the conditions that wreck vehicles fastest — coastal salt, red dirt, mud, humidity, long highway runs and harsh worksites — CAT systems are used by 4WD owners, caravanners, fleet operators and HVAC professionals right across the country.

The system works by impressing a controlled electronic signal into the metal body of a vehicle or structure. That signal interrupts the chemical process that causes rust to develop and spread. Unlike sprays and coatings, which sit on the surface and need reapplying, the CAT system runs continuously while the vehicle is in use — protecting the areas you can reach and the areas you can’t.

CAT systems are modular. Pick the 2 Coupler System for sealed-road driving, the 4 Coupler System for occasional off-road, the 6 Coupler System for regular saltwater or beach exposure, or the 8 Coupler System for industrial, mine site or offshore work. All systems are EMC certified for Australia, the US and Europe, work on both 12V and 24V vehicles, and are backed by a 10-year product replacement guarantee.

Whether you install the system yourself with the supplied instructions, have an auto electrician fit it, or choose a CAT stockist to do the work, you’re using the same proven technology that’s been protecting Australian vehicles for over 35 years.

Easy DIY Installation

The CAT System is built for simple DIY installation. No drilling, no specialised tools — just basic hand tools and the supplied step-by-step instructions. Most customers fit the system themselves in an afternoon. Coupler pads stick to clean metal surfaces, the control module mounts under the bonnet, and the wiring connects to your vehicle’s battery. If you’d rather not, any auto electrician can fit it.

Or Have It Professionally Fitted

If DIY isn’t your thing, that’s fine — any auto electrician can fit a CAT System in under an hour. Or choose a certified CAT stockist for installation, advice and ongoing support. Many stockists offer the system supplied and fitted as a package.

Why Choose CAT

Built on Proven Australian Technology

CAT has been a leader in ERPS (Electronic Rust Prevention Systems) since 1989. Over 35 years of engineering refinement, with thousands of satisfied customers across Australia and worldwide.

Designed for "Free Air" Structures

CAT uses a negative-electrolysis impressed-current system — engineered specifically for vehicles and mobile plant that aren't permanently grounded. The technical approach that makes CAT effective in real-world driving conditions.

Modular Design — Expand Anytime

Start with the system that suits your vehicle today, expand later if your needs change. The Main Generator Module powers up to 12 coupler pads across two output circuits. Additional pads can be added at any time using expansion packs.

Auto-Switching 12V or 24V Operation

The CAT System runs on either 12VDC or 24VDC power. It automatically detects the input voltage and adjusts its operation and diagnostics accordingly — no manual configuration, no wrong-voltage damage risk.

Built Tough — Shockproof and Waterproof

The entire system — Main Control Module, Coupler Pads, Wiring Harness and connectors — is shock and water resistant, exceeding IEC529, DIN40050 and IP67 standards. Built to handle off-road, marine and industrial conditions without failure.

Certified to International Standards

EMC certified for Australia/New Zealand (C-Tick), the United States (FCC) and Europe (E-13). Manufactured to ISO 9001:2000 quality and procedural requirements.

Backed by a 10-Year Replacement Guarantee

Every CAT System is backed by a written 10-year product replacement guarantee — recognised worldwide. Confidence in the technology, protection for your investment.

Safe, Eco-Friendly Operation

The CAT System is sealed, low-voltage and emits no fumes, chemicals or residue. Safe to operate continuously, with no impact on vehicle occupants, cargo or the environment.

Excellent service & quick shipping. We also purchased the a 2 pad CAT electronic rust protection system 7 years ago to install in our ducted air conditioning condenser unit. The unit is located on the roof of our building, exposed to the weather elements less than 100 metres from breaking ocean waves on the east coast of Australia. The system has performed over and above our expectation with no rust developing during this time. The team from Coastal Air in Batemans Bay, NSW have been amazed there is no rust on the unit when they service it!
